Celtic Women's Aug 2013The Clubs Women’s National League team showed their class today in Ennis when hitting the home side for seven goals in the FAI Senior Challenge Cup and booking their place in the National  Senior Cup semi-final. The Hoops were on the front foot from the start and the impressive Emma Hansberry opened the scoring after nine minutes and this was followed up by a goal from Irish International debutant Deirdre Doherty who made no mistake in front of goals. The visitors were rampant at this stage and when Nicole Fowley made it three nil on the 23rd minutes. The game was as good as over for the home side when Irish U19 International Sarah McGeough made it four nil following some excellent build up play and Yvonne Hedigan completed the first half scoring on 34th minute when she coolly slotted ball to the Lifford net. Rachel Kerins replaced the injured Trish Moran at half-time and she her potential with excellent second-half showing. The second half saw the home side come more into the game but they could nothing to stop Rachel King getting on the score sheet on the 80th minute and Deirdre Doherty got her second and her sides seventh with five minutes remaining.
